Brooklyn Nets v Los Angeles Lakers

Making history as the first openly gay player in the NBA after signing a 10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets, Jason Collins is extending his stay with the team…at least for another 10 days. The Nets plan to sign the basketball veteran to another contract, a person told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the plans haven’t been made public. Because this makes total sense. The Kentucky Baptist Convention church is giving away guns at Second Amendment Celebrations hosted across the state in order to “point people to Christ.” Oh? In the words of spokesman Chuck McAlister, the strategy is “outreach to rednecks.” The plan? Lure the nonreligious into the fold by offering what they love most — handguns, shotguns, or long guns as door prizes. There is one catch, however. The second day of the Oscar Pistorius murder trial didn’t go off without a hitch on Tuesday. The trial was dramatically interrupted when the judge ordered an investigation into allegations that a South African television channel was broadcasting a photograph of a witness — against a court order guaranteeing privacy to witnesses who request it. That same witness, Michelle Burger, testified that she heard a woman screaming on the night Pistorius killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp last year. Burger is Pistorius’ neighbor. Another day, another Republican making offensive comments regarding the LGBT community. On Sunday, Iowa congressman Steve King said he was unhappy with Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer for vetoing the “right-to-discriminate” bill, arguing that gays could “set up a case” against businesses that don’t want to serve them.
