In light of the latest school shooting that took place outside Portland, Oregon yesterday, a candlelight vigil was held in memoriam of 14-year-old victim Emilio Hoffman, who was shot and killed yesterday at Reynolds High School in Troutdale.
According to Oregon Alive, the victim was a popular freshman boy who played JV soccer and was adored by his classmates.
“Troutdale Police Chief Scott Anderson made the announcement in front of reporters on Tuesday. “Emilio was a great kid who was loved by all,” said Anderson, on behalf of Hoffman’s family. The shooting occurred in the final days of the school year. Police say the shooter also died, and a teacher was wounded.”
Hoffman was killed in the boy’s locker room, and another teacher was injured. As we previously reported, police were unsure if the shooter, who committed suicide, was a student at the high school and have not yet identified him or released a motive.
Family and friends met at the Walt Morey Middle School soccer field Tuesday night to pray and pay tribute to Hoffman. The hashtag #RIPEmilioHoffman was created in his honor.
