Known for playing Cookie Lyon with lots of attitude, Taraji P. Henson‘s new hairstyle is now matching her bold personality.
The Empire star debuted her dramatic new ‘do on Instagram, and it’s more than worthy of three snaps. Rocking a purple-to-silver ombre, Taraji stunned in a series of selfies.
With every outrageous hair color comes comments about hair damage. But don’t worry, this is just a wig, as revealed to PEOPLE by Taraji’s hairstylist Marcia Hamilton. Also, she shares that the actress made sure the color was just right before rocking it. Because that’s what Cookie would do.
“When I did the first color I sent her a pic — I think she was out of the country,” Hamilton says. “She responded ‘More purple.’ So I went back to drawing board to recreate. Once done I gave it to her. But she had many shoots scheduled and had to wait to play with our new look.”
