“Carmageddon’ is Los Angeles” midsummer traffic nightmare and it’s coming tonight!

According to the LA Times, officials in L.A. have decided to ruin everyone’s weekend and shut down a 10-mile stretch on one of the city’s most heavily trafficked freeways on the West side. The portion of the 405 freeway, which carries 500,000 cars every weekend, will be out of business for an unprecedented 53-hours and it even has celebrities tweeting to spread the word of this impending doom.

“We believe the streets will be totally gridlocked,” Sherman Oaks-resident Richard Tyler told the Los Angeles Times. “We don’t think we will be able to get out … We even wonder how the mailman will get around.”

The shut down, that has everyone in L.A. in panic mode, is due to the latest phase in a $1 billion widening project. The people of Los Angeles are preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best!
