GlobalGrind spoke to French supermodel Loan Chabanol and the former art school student turned model, who has done campaigns for Oil of Olay Professional, Target, York Peppermint Patty and Baccarat, told us about her origins in fashion, as well as the time she spent in Vietnam, the ancestral home of her grandparents.

We also talked about her love of auteur Tim Burton, her transition from print modeling to TV commericals and her friendship with her best friend and fellow supermodel Angela Martini.

Here’s taste of our conversation!

GlobalGrind: Where did you grow up in France?

Loan: In the south west, Toulouse.

GG: They say people from the south of france are more relax than people from paris? Is that true?

Loan: Hahaha, I think so. Paris can be stressful but still it’s a beautiful city. Very romantic.

GG: You ve got several commercial under your belt, you ve had Target, Khols, now York peppermint pattie and Olay.  Is it difficult to make transition to print to motion?

Loan: It is if motion is not something you feel confortable in. I always love movies and always loved the process of acting.

GG: Has your family been involved into the enterteinment  industry in any way?

Loan: No, I am the first.

GG: What was it like seeing yourself in your first commercial?

Loan: Its was funny! And weard ! haha! I always had hard time to watch myself….i don’t know why. Like almost that person on screen is someone else.

GG: That’s something I heard actors said a lot. You find so many talented actors from Hollywood and beyond say I never watch myself on the screen because I can’t take it!

Loan: I wish I could watch myself dancing the way she does ! I think it depends your personality and how you deal with it but I try to have as much fun as I can when I am doing something new.

GG: There seems to be this projectory from print to tv.  Are movies next?

Loan: I hope so! I always wanted to be a part of a motion picture that would tell a amasing story and inspire people.

GG: So you are a mixt of italien german vietnamies and French. Have you ever been to viteman and what was it like being there for the first time?

Loan:  Yes I have been there twice. It was amazing! It’s a  beautiful country full of melancholy. I actually fell in love with the food!! Ahaha I looove Vietnamese food!

GG: How long have you been friends with Angela Martini?

Loan: Almost 3 years now.

GG: Is it difficult making long lasting friends in this industry? Because, basically on some level you are competiting.  Is it difficult?

Loan: Yes it is but Angela and I are best friends. We know who we are and I think that’s why it works! I actually was with her and my friend Paul Haggis last night having a good time at the premiere of the last season 8 of  “Entourage”.

I love spending time with my girlfriends, going for dinner at miss Lily’s or have drinks at the Mercer Hotel and go out parties  @ the Darbys.

GG: What else do you like to do?

Loan:  have been passionate about martial art since I was a little girl and one day I decided to train as a Muay Thai boxer. I did it for for almost 3 years, so watch out!! [LAUGHS] I think it’s  my Asian blood that keeps me on fire!!
