Yesterday Complex magazine released their October/November 2011 issue covered by hip-hop newbie Kreayshawn.

In the issue, Kreayshawn talks about the controversy of her groupmate V-Nasty using the N-word, her beefs with other rappers and her quick rise to fame.

It seems as though the femcee has literally become famous overnight. Her popularity reached an all new high thanks to her hit sing and video “Gucci Gucci.” She managed to get nominated by MTV in their Best New Artist category and has started covering magazines without an album, or even a mixtape out.

STORY: Kreayshawn Isn’t Taking Anybody’s Sh*t In Complex!

In the past, magazines have been known to only throw people on their covers who have had at least two hit albums or more, but Kreayshawn is definitely shown us those days might be long gone.

STORY: Can Kreayshawn Become The Queen Of Hip-Hop?

I’ve always thought of magazines putting someone on their cover as a way to recognize and pay homage to a person and their amazing, life changing work or movement they’ve contributed to the world, at least when it come to artists. It was their way of saying, look at how great this person is and pay attention to the things they have done and will do in the future.

But Kreayshawn is making it known that being on a cover isn’t just about homage being paid, but a way to get the attention of the masses to look at someone they may not have, or school them on what they’re about.

It’s obvious Kreayshawn has convinced these magazines she belongs on their cover.

She doesn’t have an album or a mixtape out, but something has sure catapulted her to catch the attention of some people. Maybe it’s the fact that her “Gucci Gucci” video has over 18 million views, or maybe it’s because hearing a white girl talk about swag, blunts and bad b*tches has never been seen in hip-hop yet, or maybe it’s all the hip-hop beef Kreayshawn has seemed to have attracted.

Either way, whether we like it or not, Kreayshawn has some spotlights on her.

She is the Sarah Palin of hip-hop.

She’s gone from surviving off bologna sandwiches in East Oakland to not only attending award shows, but being nominated for awards and having spreads in magazines. Some may think she hasn’t earned these things, but they’ve happened, so let’s hope she has a powerful mixtape or album makes this all worthwhile.
