Don’t let anyone ever tell you R&B is dead — especially after the week it just had.

Heavy hitters Rihanna and Mary J. Bilge both had LPs that debuted in the top 5 of the album charts this week.

Rihanna’s sixth album, Talk That Talk, debuted at number three, selling 197,000 copies, while Mary J. Blige’s tenth album My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act 1) came in at number five, moving 156,000 copies.

Those are some big, big numbers. Give yourselves a hand, ladies!

Even though these ladies could release a blank CD and it would still do major numbers, both of their respective projects were helped by huge first singes. Mary J. Blige got a big push by putting out “25/8,” while Rihanna’s “We Found Love” found its way to number one on the Billboard charts.

The rest of the top five was Michael Buble’s Christmas, which debuted at number one, Nickelback’s Here and Now, which came in at number two, and Drake’s sophomore album, Take Care, which fell from number one in its first week to number four.
