At a Chicago fundraiser this past weekend, President Barack Obama called Mitt Romney’s running mate, Paul Ryan, the “ideological leader” of Republicans in Congress.

According to the Associated Press, while speaking to a group of young supporters, Obama said that ideology has led to gridlock, dysfunction and a top-down approach to growing the economy, but welcomed the young G.O.P.’er to the Presidential race all the same.

Obama said during the fundraiser:

“He is a decent man, he is a family man, he is an articulate spokesman for Governor Romney’s vision, but it is a vision that I fundamentally disagree with.”

Obama went on to say that he disagrees with Ryan’s vision, as he wants fewer regulations and tax breaks for the wealthy, which is not the direction Obama believes the country should be going.

Romney picked Ryan on Saturday aboard the USS Wisconsin in Norfolk, VA.

Democrats immediately pounced on Romney’s pick, saying that Ryan’s budget-cutting agenda will harm seniors, students and the middle class.
