We live in a digital age, but what would you do if your entire world went dark?

No electric. No Internet usage. No phones. No connection to the outer worlds, just a simple revisit to the old days. What would you do without it all?

That is the premise behind NBC’s Revolution premiering Sept 17, Mondays 10/9c. In this epic adventure from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and Supernatural‘s Eric Kripke, a family struggles to reunite in an American landscape where every single piece of technology – computers, planes, cars, phones, even lights – has mysteriously blacked out forever.

Think about all the things you would miss if life as we know it was stripped from just about every single technology powered by electricity, and that is only the tip of the iceberg.

We put some thought to the things that we would miss if the world went dark, and aside from the obvious, compiled a list of 5 ways the world wouldn’t be the same if we lived in the world depicted in Revolution.

1. Celebrities

Lack of power would kill the celebrity obsession. How would we be able to keep up with the Kardashians if there was no television, no paparazzi and most of all, no Internet to post these scandalous things on? We wouldn’t! Could that be a gift as well as a curse?

2. Heat styling products

Heat products are just about key when it comes to keeping our manes under control. How would we dry out hair in a jiffy after washing it in the nearest stream without our favorite heat tools? And guys would go back to straight edge razors after a life of electric grooming. That’s a lot of bandages.

3. Social Networking and Google

So we meet someone new, but how are we supposed to do a valid social check on them without the aforementioned at our fingertips? This may sound very first-worldy, but this has become an integral part of social interactions as we know them.

4. Cell Phones.

When waiting on a friend by the bonfire, how will we know if they are running late? What will we fiddle with while on a bad date or in an awkward situation? A book maybe, but will the lighting suffice? Carrier pigeons will be called upon to make a return, but you can’t fiddle with those.

5. Lights.

Street lights, traffic lights, house lights, all of the lights. All of our important tasks would have to be carried out in hours of daylight and reliance on lanterns would become vital, and what fun is that?

We are sure if the lights went, things like air conditioners and refrigerated food would become extinct, but hopefully we will never have to experience that. What would you miss the most if the entire world went dark? Comment below via Facebook and let us know.
