Two Las Vegas parents have been charged with murder after beating their son to death last month, reportedly for failing to do his homework or reading the Bible. He was just 7 years old.
According to the police report, Roderick “RJ” Arrington Jr., arrived at the hospital unresponsive on Nov. 29. Hospital personnel immediately contacted the Las Vegas police department after identifying severe bruising and swelling of the brain. Roderick died the very next day.

Details in the arrest report say Dina Palmer, 27, alleges that she watched her husband, Markiece Palmer (who is not related to the child), beat and shake Roderick to death. However, both parents have been charged with the murder.
The rest of the report details the child’s heartbreaking injuries, which include:
“Open abrasions on [Arrington’s] buttocks, severe bruising to his thighs, marks and bruises on his back and shoulders and evidence of previous beatings.”
In a shocking move, the couple actually called their pastor before contacting emergency services. They also admitted to beating him for not following the rules:
Markiece Palmer stated the second grade student was spanked on Nov. 27 because he had lied about reading the bible; he said the boy was also spanked the following day for not finishing his homework, according to police.
Police claim the boy’s stepfather beat him with a spatula, belt and possibly a wooden paddle. Dina Palmer allegedly struck her son on his buttocks with both a belt and her hand.
We’re not sure what caused either parent to take it to that level because little “RJ” didn’t do his homework or read the Bible, but no child deserves to be treated as such!
