Is the net result of Gucci Mane the rapper, and the music he creates, primarily positive or primarily negative relative to hip hop culture as a whole?

Clay-Radric David aka Gucci Mane is definitely a polarizing figure in hip-hop, as are many high-profile rappers, but his net impact is certainly a positive one. Rising from poverty and crime, he has attained both fame and fortune through the use of a hip-hip music. His success is motivation for those who may feel that their inadequate environment will ultimately restrict them from achieving their own goals. Many have said that Gucci’s constant references to drug sales, drug use, and other criminal activity are negative, but that is merely a cop-out. Gucci didn’t create the harsh realities, so one cannot blame him for referencing them in his music considering that was his way of life before his success. He is just another example of a rapper who uses his real life experiences as the framework for his music and his authenticity is absolute, which only makes him credible when he speaks on these topics. Furthermore, we can’t continue to fault hip-hop for reporting ugly truths, as we never fault the TV news stations for doing so.Gucci built his powerful brand without the help of a major label or being co-signed by an iconic figure in hip-hop, which is contrary to the norm in the industry nowadays. While his music may lack lyrical complexities and a revolutionary message, it is packed with high-energy, charisma, and wit. It’s the type of music that dominates the club scene and is always blaring out of car audio systems because. Even casual listeners have been known to recite lyrics to some of his catchy songs. Thus, Gucci has undoubtedly brought at lot of fun and enjoyment back to the rap game. He has been touring the “chitlin circuit” endlessly and releasing more free music recently than even Lil Wayne, and is an inspiration who exemplifies the power of confidence, perseverance, and work ethic. This non-stop hustle has helped his fan base has grown from a small grassroots community, to a nation-wide movement. Even in the face of adversity and critics, his focus has not wavered. Gucci Mane took nothing and made it into something, considering he has gone from a jail cell to recently exploding on to the mainstream rap scene. Sure he has his faults like any other human and his music won’t save the world, but it will make sure we have a good time while we’re here.JRod-To say Gucci Mane has his faults is what we would like to call "The Understatement of the Year" His mere presence exudes everything that is wrong with Hip Hop today.Gucci Mane is the epitome of style over substance. His lyrics have little to no meaning and depth, his flow is questionable at best and he is certainly does not portray a positive image. The only thing that is visible is that he can make two words rhyme and sometimes that is arguable. Now does he make fun music? If dealing dope and standing on the corner is fun, then sure, yeah, have a blast. The club does go crazy when they play Gucci, but I feel it’s more for the beats and bass that come from his music, than the actual words coming out of his mouth.Of course Gucci’s main attribute is his authenticity, which is obvious a major criteria in today’s market. Which on the surface may seem harmless but in reality again shows how far Hip Hop has slid. How crazy is it for Hip Hop that the Next Thing Smoking largest claim to fame is that he murdered somebody who was trying to rob him. While this is commendable in a certain sense, a rapper it does not make.Clay-Gucci Mane is the definition of hip-hop so he can’t be the epitome of what’s wrong with it. Hip-hop has long been flashy, braggadocios, and fun loving among other things. You make it seem as if the genr
