The Daily Grind Video

With the help of television network HBO, Russell Simmons is getting back to his roots as a television producer.

The TV and music mogul recently struck a deal and inked a two-year first-look partnership with HBO. He will create and develop projects for the network.

Don’t get it twisted though – this isn’t his first rodeo! Russell first worked with HBO in the early ’90s to produce Def Comedy Jam. The show ran from 1992-97 and 2006-08 and is responsible for the success of many well-known African-American comedians.

And the accomplishments don’t stop there. While working with Def Jam, Simmons also executive produced two stand-up comedy series on Comedy Central and two docuseries on MTV: Daddy’s Girls and Run’s House.

Russell is also a well-known author, film-maker, entrepeneur, philanthropist and yoga-enthusiast. In 2007, he wrote a New York Times best-seller, titled Do You! 12 Laws to Access the Power in You to Achieve Happiness and Success and founded this website! His most recent bestseller is titled Super Rich: A Guide to Having It All. His film works include Waist Deep, Lemon and The House I Live In and his blogs are frequently featured throughout our site.

We look forward to seeing what projects the bossman puts out in conjunction with HBO.
