At Germany’s music festival, ‘Love Parade’ on Saturday July 24th, nineteen were left dead and 340 injured while pandemonium broke loose and people could not escape the crowds through the small underpass tunnel leading to the entrance of the event.

The description of the occurrence were as disorganized as the logistics of the event itself.  Reportedly, there were approximately 1.4 million people inside the Love Parade and people kept streaming into the 200 meter tunnel to the entrance without knowing that the only entrance to the festival was closed off and and while they tried to turn around to leave, the other end of the tunnel was blocked off by the police.

Critics blame the concert organizers for being so unprepared for such a massive crowd.  Even the ones who made it out had trample marks on their faces.  Rainer Schaller, the organizer of the Love Parade announced that Love Parade will not happen again.  The aftermath is quite brutal, many German prosecutors are on their toes and the event will be further investigated.  There were at least 6 victims that were foreigners.
