Following in the footsteps of R&B crooners Trey Songz and R Kelly, Virginia’s own Chris Brown has just dropped his first mixtape, ‘In My Zone,’ with DJ Drama and DJ Sense. Although the mixtape has just dropped, it’s been making a lot of buzz on the internet and has put the spotlight back on Breezy. Even with putting out his hit singles ‘I Can Transform Ya’ and ‘Crawl,’ and releasing his ‘Grafitti’ album, it seems that after the Rihanna incident CB never bounced back to where he was musically. But from sound of the new project, and the fans’ reaction of the mixtape, it seems that Chris is about to claim his spot back.

The mixtape includes new tracks from the singer, as well as freestyles over some familiar tracks. Chris definitely shows his versatility on this mixtape, covering tracks including Yo Gotti’s ‘Women Lie, Men Lie,’ Snoop Dogg’s ‘I Wanna Rock,’ and Trey Songz’ ‘Invented Sex’ and ‘Say Ahhh!’ He also shows listeners that he’s still can make original music, showcasing new tracks like ‘Shoes,’ ‘Back Out,’ and ‘Medusa.’ There was even room for a collab with Soulja Boy on the tape (‘Bad’).

Even though it’s not traditional for R&B artists to put out mixtapes, CB’s tape is definitely a blueprint for those singers who want to put their music out via mixtape. It’s definitely worth the download, and it shows that regardless of the situations and issues Chris Brown goes through, he will still continue to make good music. Check out his project and take a listen to it. Forget about the drama with Rihanna and all the gossip and just pay attention to the music. I’m sure you’ll agree, he’s definitely back in the zone!
