Ariana Grande is a smart cookie, but she should have trusted her first instinct when it came to posting the now infamous Justin Bieber kiss selfie.
If you didn’t know, while touring with the Biebs, Ariana posted the picture above and got a ton of backlash when the Beliebers made a big deal out of nothing. Now in an interview with MTV, the “Baby I” singer explains the whole story about how Bieber forced her to post the picture!
“I went to meet and greet with my grandparents, because my nonna has a massive crush on Justin Bieber, so I went and our fans … I think they trended #JustinandArianaSelfie or something like that. So I was like, ‘We have to do this,’ and Justin was like, ‘Yeah, let’s take a picture.’”
So at least that part was Ariana’s idea. But then Biebs gets cheeky. “So, I took my phone and I went like this [gestures selfie] and I was just smiling, and he kissed me on the cheek,” Grande says. “I didn’t know what to do. I just walked out of the room. I got shy.”
This is when Braun gets involved. “Then Scooter came after me and was like, ‘Justin says you have to post that picture.’ I was like, ‘I will not.’ And he was like, ‘He says you have to post that picture.’ And I said, ‘I can’t,’ and he asked why not and I was like ‘because I don’t want the drama that’s going to come with it.’”
Finally through the power of Twitter, Biebs stepped up the pressure, telling her to post that pic!
“So, I just did it, but everyone was like, ‘Oh my gosh a kiss on the cheek. I’m like, can you not?’ Come on!”
Ariana eventually deleted the photo, but the damage was done; the ruthless Beliebers went HAM.
Do you think Bieber pushed her to tweet the picture in order to get Selena Gomez jealous? Hmm, we prefer Ariana making out with Mac Miller anyway.
