On Monday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department mistakenly shot and killed Tosh.O production assistant John Winkler while he was fleeing from an armed attacker. Winkler was hanging with friends in the apartment below him when a man who lived nearby took them hostage at knifepoint. After receiving a 911 call, police arrived at the apartment where they were told the attacker was a thin man in a black shirt. When they pounded on the door, the hostages used it as an opportunity to escape. But when Winkler ran out, behind a victim covered in blood, three deputies fired their duty weapons at him. Later, they found the real assailant choking the third hostage inside the apartment. He was arrested and charged. A 2-year-old boy was shot and killed in while playing in his South Bend, Indiana front yard. His 7-year-old sister may have been struck by a bullet from the gang-related gunfire as well. Police believe the bullets came from a gunfight between two rival groups about a block away. One group began running west toward the boy and the other group continued shooting. U.S. Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is resigning, according to a White House Official. Sebelius, who received heavy criticism for the October roll-out of Obamacare, but saw the program through its recent success of over 7 million sign-ups, may be replaced with President Barack Obama’s nominee, Sylvia Mathews Burwell, the current director of the Office of Management and Budget. read about it here…[CNN]
