Thursday night television is really good.

I mean, stop everything you are doing and watch for an entire three hours good. Like, my fingers hurt from tweeting about Shonda Rhimes’ Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder for hours good. I mean, Rhimes is my goddamn hero good.

And with our glasses of red wine, a Twitter feed, and some popcorn, nothing was going to bring us down.

Like ABC said…Thank God It’s Thursday (TGIT).

And then this happened. People Magazine thought everyone was having too much fun live-tweeting television greatness. Or maybe that black women were too excited about one of our own playing such a powerful, sex-positive, vulnerable, complex, amazing black lawyer. So they reminded us where they think Viola Davis, who plays Annalise Keating on HTGAWM, came from.

If you recall, Davis played maid Aibileen Clark in the book-turned-movie The Help. And People‘s tweet? Way to indicate you’ll only see Davis, who is a phenomenal actress, as nothing more.

So much for having nice things.

Oh, that’s after they reminded us that natural hair, which Kerry Washington’s character Olivia Pope rocked on her island getaway in the opening scene of Scandal, is not appropriate in the office setting:

So in short, People Magazine managed to let black women nationwide know that being a maid is the only acceptable character on television and natural hair will never be the business.

And yes, Twitter responded immediately to the major “fuck you,” causing the publication to delete their tweets.

The response? This apology which just…no:

Guess this is a good time to mention that the publication is currently being sued for racial discrimination by a former editor. You know…just in case you were second-guessing if those 140 characters were really offensive in nature.
