Hello Global Grind Family!!

I’m blessed to be one of the first NBA players to blog on Global Grind.  I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy this site…and I can’t believe that I’m now a Global Grind celebrity blogger.  So I know that most people either blog about their feelings on an issue, update everyone when they’ve had good or bad days, or just want the world to know what they’re up to.  My last couple of weeks have been crazy…so here it goes!

On February 8th, I had surgery on my knee. It’s been tough sitting on the sidelines watching my teammates play, but I’ve been in rehab 2-3 times a day and plan on coming back better than before.  A couple days later and still on crutches, I trekked it to Dallas for All-Star Weekend.   Jordan celebrated 25 years of the brand on Friday night with an amazing dinner for Team Jordan athletes and friends.  I sat next to MJ and Melo while Robin Thicke performed for a crowd of 100…it doesn’t get much better than that! And man, was that CRAZY stepping out on the court for the first basketball game ever held at Dallas Cowboys Stadium.  To look up and see over 108,000 people cheering was a very humbling experience.  I only wish that I was healthy enough to play.

Since I got back from All-Star, it’s been non-stop.  On Saturday, the new Mardi Gras colorway of my shoe, the JORDAN CP3.III came out.  It’s so great to experience Mardi Gras here in New Orleans (there’s nothing like it) and even more exciting to have those colors make up one of my shoes.  Saturday afternoon I made an appearance at the Foot Locker on Canal Street to greet some fans and celebrate the launch of the new colorway.  While I was there, a little boy came up to me and told me that I was his hero.  Since joining the NBA, children naturally look to me as a role model…it comes with the job and I’m happy to take it on.  But when that little boy said that to me, it gave me goose bumps.  It’s stuff like that that never gets old.

Speaking of being a role model, right after the Foot Locker appearance I headed Uptown for the dedication of my third basketball court.  My CP3 Foundation and Jordan Brand donated money to help refurbish a neighborhood court to look exactly like the Hornets home court in the New Orleans Arena.  Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces when they found out that their court was going to look just like the Hornets court was the best part of my day.

It’s been a busy few weeks and all I can say is that I’m thankful for all I have.  I love doing what I do and I’m truly blessed!
