One of the best things you can do, as an artist, is to create music with other artists. Even producers are artists. Everyone has talent and insight to give.

Personally, its always the most rewarding when you work with artists who aren’t too popular or aren’t known on a national level. There are SO MANY talented artists out there but its so difficult to be heard. It always feels good helping smaller artists get exposed. Who knows, they might end up becoming more popular than us! Its important to take a chance on something different, as long as you can BELIEVE in it.

2 producers of ours; DJ Valet & Joey Claris, have their own individual vision and style, which is why we love them. They’re a little eccentric but their influences derive from sounds all over the world. We know, whenever we hear a new beat from either, its going to be something we’ve never heard before. That is the beauty of experimenting, though. There should be no script or format.

Our most recent collaboration was with indie/pop singer, Christine Sweeney. It was actually the first ‘love song’ we had ever attempted to make. The closest we had come to romance was our song; ‘The West Coast‘, but that was more sexual than it was romantic. Ha ha.

So anyway, we were sitting on this beat for months when we finally gave it to Sweeney, hoping she could write something to feed off of. She came back a week later, sang the hook she wrote, and BAM! We were blown away. Her ability as a talented song writer, helped our writing process run smoother and thus, helping us to create an incredible song!

Lesson? Allow yourself work with artists outside of your realm. Since we have no definitive realm, the extent of our creativity is limitless!
