Florida is at it again.

A legally blind man who was acquitted in the shooting death of another man under the controversial “Stand Your Ground” law succeeded in getting his firearms back from the state.

During a hearing at the Seminole County Courthouse in Sanford, the same city where Trayvon Martin was shot to death and his gunman set free, a judge was forced to return a Glock pistol and a rifle to John Wayne Rogers, who shot a drinking buddy in March of 2012.

Judge John Galluzzo said he did not want to return the guns to Rogers, however, it was the law. Galluzzo did order that all ammunition be destroyed. He said it was too old and dangerous.

“I have to return property that was taken under the circumstance,” Galluzzo said. “I have researched and haven’t found case law to say otherwise.”

Rogers, who became blind after a construction accident, argued that he needs his guns for protection.

“It’s my constitutional right. I wasn’t carrying these firearms around. I was in my house on a private road in Geneva out of the way,” Rogers said.

Interestingly enough, Rogers was accused of shooting at his cousin four years ago, indicating that others may need protection from him.

We’re just saying…
